his is a personal collection of writing, photography, and occasional video reflections gathered around a simple conviction: that a life can become more beautiful by becoming more attentive.

I am interested in the kind of progress that happens quietly. The kind that comes through a better question, a beloved book, a morning sky, a difficult memory, a work of art, a landscape that restores proportion, or a face that teaches the meaning of affection.

What you will find here is not a portfolio in the usual sense. It is more like a record of attention: essays, poems, images, and reflections shaped by beauty, literature, faith, longing, memory, and the slow education of the heart.

I return often to the same few questions. What is worth loving? What deserves reverence? What helps us see more clearly? What kind of person is being formed by the things we notice, admire, and protect?

This site is my attempt to live closer to those questions.

Writing

Here is where I will place my essays, reflections, literary notes, and poems on the things that keep working on me: beauty, memory, love, faith, attention, ambition, loss, books, and the uneasy discipline of becoming more fully human.

The Architecture of Longing

A cathedral does not merely rise from the earth. It teaches the earth to look upward.

It has all the ambition of a cliff and all the courtesy of a prayer.

The Tree and Its Star

A tall tree is not merely growing upward; it is practicing the ancient art of longing, sending its green thought toward a light it may never touch.

Photography

My repository of mages of sunrises, landscapes, culture, and connection. These are not meant as records of where I have been, exactly, but as attempts to honor what made me stop, look again, and feel the world asking something of me.

Video Reflections

This is where I will occasional post short reflections in a more personal form. A place for spoken meditations on books, beauty, memory, place, and the moments when thought is still finding its shape. Here is where I will place my essays, reflections, literary notes, and poems on the things that keep working on me: beauty, memory, love, faith, attention, ambition, loss, books, and the uneasy discipline of becoming more fully human.

A Gentler Kind of Progress

Poetry of Progress is named for the quieter progress I am trying to trace here: learning to see with greater honesty, to love with greater courage, and to remain open to wonder.

Much of the world asks us to improve by becoming faster, sharper, more useful, more productive. I understand that demand. I have lived inside it. But the work that most interests me now is harder to measure and easier to neglect.

I want to become more attentive to what is beautiful before it disappears into habit. More faithful to the books, places, memories, and faces that have altered me. More willing to be moved, corrected, unsettled, and enlarged.

This site is a gathering place for that effort.

The writing is where I try to think honestly about what continues to shape me. The photography is where I try to honor what made me stop and look again. The videos, when they come, will be another way of speaking from inside that same search.

What I am after is not escape from the world, but a deeper presence within it. A life less hurried past meaning. A soul less armored against beauty. A way of paying attention that becomes, slowly, a way of being changed.

What I am after is not escape from the world, but a deeper presence within it. A life less hurried past meaning.
